dp supports african schools

Munich, December 2009. Just before Christmas, the language learning specialists from digital publishing have launched the charity campaign “Stars for Africa“ to support education in Mali. On December 10th, dp invited partners and customers to attend a festive “virtual Christmas party“ in dp’s virtual classroom. For each participant, dp donated ten euros to the or-ganization “Sterntaler”. Thanks to the overwhelming number of participants, ten grade-levels at institutions in Mali will now receive new study material. dp places great impor-tance on children’s education and has established a long-term support for students in Africa. digital publishing will donate language learning software in the amount of 125,000 Euros to educational institutions in Mali.

Jürgen Nagler, CEO of “Sterntaler für Afrika e.V.“, is enthusiastic about dp’s charity campaign: “Mali ranks among the least developed countries worldwide. Education is one of the most important elements to change this. Language skills in French and English are vital for almost every profession. Therefore, we are very happy about dp’s commitment and the donation. This will be an important step for improving the situation of education in Mali.” The virtual classroom was developed by digital publishing software engineers with the special needs of language students in mind, who are mostly looking for excellent audio and clear video quality when communicating with the tutor. The live sessions focus on actively communicating in a foreign language. The new course concept "CLT live" by digital publishing, which will be available in January, intelligently combines the integrated concept of the CLT online-language school with the technology of the virtual classroom. The participants take part in the course con-cept with a high degree of interaction: In the virtual classroom they communicate with the teacher and other language students via webcam, microphone, chat and surveys.
